Feed In Tariffs (SEGs)

As a UK homeowner interested in Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) tariffs for exporting excess solar energy back to the grid, it's important to consider the best rates available to you. Currently, some of the top rates on the market include:

Octopus Energy: They offer various tariffs including a fixed Smart Export Guarantee rate of 15p per kWh. If you opt for their Agile tariff, you can potentially earn anywhere from 0 to 29p per kWh depending on the time of day you export energy. Octopus Energy requires a smart meter capable of half-hourly readings and MCS/Flexi-Orb certification for your solar PV system.

Scottish Power: Their SmartGen+ tariff provides a rate of 15p per kWh with no fixed end date, requiring half-hourly readings and MCS/Flexi-Orb certification for your solar PV system.

E.ON Next: They offer a Next Export Exclusive tariff at 16.5p per kWh for customers who purchased their solar installation from E.ON after January 2020, with no exit fees for the 12-month fixed term and the requirement of a suitable smart meter.

OVO Energy: They offer rates up to 20p per kWh if you have a battery installed with your solar system. Conditions include having an 'approved' smart meter, MCS/Flexi-Orb certification, and not receiving public grants or FIT payments.

British Gas: Provides an Export and Earn Flex tariff with a rate of 6.4p per kWh, requiring a smart meter or a meter capable of obtaining half-hourly readings and MCS/Flexi-Orb certification.

It's important to note that the specific details of each tariff can change, and your eligibility may vary depending on your current energy supplier, the type of meter you have, and whether you have a solar battery. Be sure to confirm the current rates and requirements directly with the energy suppliers or through their official websites to make the most informed decision for your situation.
